Prunus ‘Ivensii’ is a lovely deciduous ornamental tree that produces small subtle white flowers in the early spring, these flowers compliment the contrasting foliage that consists of vibrant green and red colours leaves that stay snowy white through spring and summer before fading to a yellow colour in autumn.
These yoshino cherry trees will thrive in rich well-drained and moist soils – such as sand, clay, chalk and loam-based soils. Be sure to plant in a full sun area with a little shelter to help during the Winter season. Trained into a ‘lollipop’ single stem, this Prunus tree is perfect to sit solitary in small gardens, patios, borders or mixed containers.
Once settled into their new environment, this prunus tree will become fairly low maintenance and need minimal pruning. Due to being deciduous, they require little or no pruning – Just clip away any uneven or extra-long branches if necessary. If planting in Spring or Summer, water well and regularly for the first few months. If planting in Autumn, little watering is required. Make sure not to over-hydrate and don’t let the soil dry out during the warmer months.

In winter and in regions that get really cold, any snowfall enhances the tree making the branches look stunning, iced in white.

Plant in well-drained, moist soils and position in a full sun or partially shaded area. Once planted, monitor the area around for any competing weeds. Once this plant is established, it will require only a small amount of care as they are extremely hardy, tolerating poor soils as well as drought and hot or cold conditions.
